The Mind/Body Institute of Florida

The Mind/Body Institute of Florida is dedicated to strengthening the spirit and transforming the practice of medicine. The Institute provides a compassionate, open minded, and effective model of health care and education. Our model combines the precision of modern science with the wisdom of ancient healing. We address the mental, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental and physical dimensions of health and recovery from illness. The uniqueness of each person and the centrality of therapeutic partnership becomes our focal point.

Our philosophy of care is grounded in a conviction that we have a great and largely untapped capacity to understand ourselves, to improve our own health and well-being, and to help one another.

The Institute chooses to be at the forefront of a movement which seeks to bring this empowering approach, which emphasizes personal responsibility, into the heart of American medical practice. We are involved in demonstrating the cost-effectiveness and universal appropriateness of Mind/Body Medicine, making it a shaping force in the current debate on health care reform.

Who can benefit from the services?

Philosophically speaking, the natural state of all human beings is progression towards greater levels of health and well being.

We possess the freedom to choose a lifestyle and form of medical care which either enhances or impairs our homeostatic balance.

Events which "happen to us" can also influence the degree of our health and dis-ease, therefore everyone can benefit from a personalized health-maintenance program. People who share common patterns of dis-ease such as: cardiovascular, endocrine, immune dysfunction, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, nutritional, cognitive, emotional, environmental, pulmonary, cancer, chronic pain and skin disorders find this approach beneficial. People who are enjoying good health and desire a prevention program which will promote the continuance of wellness into their later years can utilize our services to help them achieve their goals.

What to expect during your initial visit:

A comprehensive health assessment form will be mailed to your home if your visit is scheduled at least one week in advance, otherwise, please bring a list of your current medications, health history and insurance information with you. Clients can expect a preliminary estimate of their individual needs, out of pocket costs, and duration of treatment during the initial visit, which will last approximately one hour.

Please arrive about 20 minutes early to complete additional forms or computerized assessment programs.

We desire to maximize time spent with your practitioners.

Risk Reduction Groups:

Many services are provided in a group setting to reduce costs and increase effectiveness. Individual assessment may be required prior to participation in a group. If you are participating in a research protocol at the Mind/Body Institute, you will receive additional information before participating in the protocol.

Payment for Services:

Payment for our services is expected at the time of treatment.

Although some of the services provided are not covered by insurance, we have been pleased to discover that an increasing number of insurers are reimbursing for complimentary care. We will gladly provide the necessary forms required for you to obtain insurance reimbursement.

HMO members must bring a signed referral from their primary physician for insurance coverage.

We aim to provide innovative, affordable, effective and individualized

21st Century Integrated Health Care.
