Secretin Therapy for Autism

By Dr. Thomas Bozzuto, D.O.

Although a respectable minority of the medical community accept Secretin therapy for autism as beneficial, it is still regarded as "experimental" by most conventional physicians and insurance companies.

Since January, the Mind/Body Institute of Florida has been participating in collecting data from children treated with Secretin for The Autism Research Institute (ARI). I would like to provide you with some information concerning this treatment and our approach to autism. Firstly, I am not an expert in the diagnosis of autism. There are a few excellent practitioners in the city who are expert in diagnosing this condition. Secondly, I am not a neurologist. My contribution to this field is a knowledge of nutrition, the contribution of nutritional testing, food allergies and intestinal problems in the treatment of autism, and an open mind.

What the Mind/Body Institute has to offer is an integrated approach, which focuses not only on the child, but also on the family. This approach includes not only laboratory testing and appropriate medical therapies, but also various forms of massage, osteopathic manipulation, family counseling and stress management.
